Today's Screaming Streaming is EYES OF FIRE.
Here's your YouTube link.
So what exactly is this film about and why should you watch it? Eyes of Fire is a creepy film about colonial pioneers that escape from their settlement after the preacher is accused of adultery. Along for the trip is Leah, who has supernatural powers that appear to keep everyone safe. They end up settling in an area that the Shawnee will not enter. The superstition is that this valley is cursed but seeing as they will safe from Indian attacks, they decide to stay. But the appearance of an orphan girl begins a series of bizarre events. We learn that there was a bloody battle on the site long ago and that when so much negativity occurs somewhere, it can take on a life of its own.
The actual lifeforce that seems to rule the woods here is the Devil Witch, who appears above. Sort of a collective amalgam of everything bad that has transpired in the place. And she's looking for new friends! In her brood is a collection of ghosts who appear randomly as naked mud covered people.
This a strikingly beautiful and haunting film from director, Avery Crounse, who is known in the world of photography for his visual style. In Eyes of Fire he incorporates some of his darkroom knowledge to create imagery that is a true treat. It's a wonderfully weird film and I hope you enjoy it.
