German director, Jorg Buttgereit's classic piece of necrophiliac film making is in its entirety on YourTube. At least as of this writing. If you've got the stomach for it, it's there.
I find the film rather funny but that is from a dark perspective. Certain things don't bother me like they bother other people so use discretion when deciding to watch this film.
So what is this film and why the warnings? NEKRomantik tells the story of Rob, a quiet loser with a sexual fetish for dead people. Luckily our little friend has an equally twisted girlfriend, Betty. Rob satisfies his tastes for the living impaired with his job cleaning up accident scenes. On one occasion he manages to smuggle home a badly decomposed corpse, which fills in the third role in a
ménage a trois. This is the scene the film is most famous for and also the scene I find the most humorous due to the outlandish nature and the beautiful erotic musical piece that plays for the duration.
So there are your major spoilers. Suffice it to say that the rest of the movie continues with some creepy twists and turns and the occasional rabbit butchering scenes thrown in to further disturb.
The film is currently banned in a number of countries and localities including Iceland, Norway, Finland, Australia, and many more. Further more, a sequel, NEKromantik 2 was made in 1991 and is just as controversial. A documentary entitled "Corpse Fucking Art" uses footage from the films as well as Buttgereit's film, Der Todesking.
Don't show this one to Grandma but if you've got the gumption and a twisted sense of humor, NEKromantik is waiting.
